National City and Regional Magazine Awards
You’re invited to participate in the 41st annual City and Regional Magazine Association awards contest, which for four decades has honored the excellent work of its member organizations. The 2026 CRMA contest is now open; see the new Call for Entries for details. The entry deadline is Friday, Nov. 21.
Last year the awards program underwent major revisions based on membership feedback through focus groups and a membership survey. Forty-nine magazines submitted 803 entries, the most since 2017.
This year there are two new categories for print or online stories of 800 words or less: Short Writing Lifestyle and Short Writing News.
Seven categories, in addition to General Excellence, are broken into circulation groups (less than 30,000 and more than 30,000), which give more magazines opportunities to be recognized.
The awards are managed on CRMA’s behalf by the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Please reach out to Jennifer Rowe at RoweJ@missouri.edu or at 573-882-6839 if you have any questions.

Each year, the City and Regional Magazine Association provides awards for excellence to qualified member organizations in designated categories. The awards are managed on CRMA’s behalf by the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
The 2025 contest is now closed and the Finalists will be announced in April. The winners will be celebrated at the closing of the CRMA Annual Conference on Friday, June 6, at the Hilton hotel, Denver, CO.
